after years of cold shouldering and nay saying, the original lineup of Dinosaur Jr. have reunited for a U.S. tour this summer. Several Dino Jr. album re-issues coincide with the trek, which includes a stop at this year’s Chicago Lollapalooza festival alongside Beck…art-rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs have finally begun work on the follow-up to smash album Fever to Tell. Rumor has it the new songs take on a more ‘acoustic’ feel, possibly a byproduct of Yeah’s guitarist Nick Zinner’s recent gig as a touring musician with Bright Eyes…continuing their non-stop glory runs, this summer will see victory lap tours from both the Pixies and Modest Mouse…Virginia-based hardcore band Avail are hard at work on a new album, with plans for a release this summer. The group additionally plan to re-issue much of their earlier catalog, including albums Over the James and Dixie , complete with bonus tracks and other extras. The re-issues are slated to be released on the Merge label, with the band stating that they “have very little plans” to work with previous home Lookout again. In related news, vocalist Tim has recorded a demo of solo songs available now on the band’s website availavail.com…Marky Ramone recently announced his departure from the Misfits. Look for the drummer to spearhead a touring Ramones’ tribute act this summer. In related news, former Black Flag drummer Robo has joined the Misfits for touring. Continuing their downward spiral, the band are gearing up to release Misfits Meet The Nutley Brass a ‘lounge’ interpretation of Misfits’ classics. Somewhere Danzig must be punching a wall…spaz-rock pioneers Devo will tour this summer, although fans should start saving now. A lone ticket for a recent New York show totaled close to $65 after ticket ‘service fees’…look for a new album to be released this summer from psychobilly rockers the Bloody Hollies. The band recently relocated to California and added an additional guitarist as well…U.S. Bombs’ vocalist Duane Peters has been busy of late, welcoming a new child with Huns bandmate Corey Parks as well as signing to the ever-expanding Thorp roster. Look for both bands to appear on this year’s Wasted Festival, set for October in California. The weekend-long festival features a stellar lineup, including Cock Sparrer, the Avengers, the Briefs, Blood for Blood, Youth Brigade, the Exploited and many more…pop open a Guiness and toast good fortune, the Pogues have reunited. The band recently played shows in the U.K., with eager fans waiting anxiously for U.S. dates. Stay tuned…former Jane’s Addiction guitarist turned Hollywood lame-o Dave Navarro will host a new television reality program designed to find a new lead singer for Eighties favorites INXS. No wonder vocalist Michael Hutchence checked out early…depressive maestros Low have abandoned their tour due to their vocalist’s ‘personal problems’…look for a collection of previously unreleased and rare material from the Clash’s Joe Strummer to be released this summer…an excellent boxed set collecting the work of the late Mark Sandman from Morphine is on stands now. Entitled Sandbox, it features videos, solo material and Morphine rarities…Joe Coffee, the latest band featuring former Sheer Terror vocalist Paul Bearer has come out of hibernation and has started playing east coast shows. No word on an official new album, but the band has been rumored to be working on fresh material. Shaw is currently behind the kit with new doomsday grind duo Dead Unicorn with former Kiss Ups bassist Paul Heath. Both Shaw and Heath can also be found alongside members of ska-punkers Lettuce Boy and monster-costuming donning rockers Goblet in the form of a New York-based band called Jukebox Zero…despite their lengthy stay on the road through June, Mike Ness of Social Distortion stated recently his intent to do another tour in the fall of 2005…and finally, word on the street is that Queens of the Stone Age are gearing up to reunite with their goatee-sporting bassist, who was given the boot under suspicious circumstances prior to the release of the band’s newest album…that does it for this issue gang.
